The Power of Intermittent Fasting: A Game-Changer for Diabetes Control

Hey there, it's Natashia, your go-to certified weight loss and hormones coach. Today, I want to talk about a topic that affects millions of people around the world: diabetes. Whether you've been recently diagnosed or have been living with it for years, managing diabetes can be a challenge. But there's a natural solution that's been gaining popularity in recent years: intermittent fasting.

Intermittent fasting is a way of eating that involves alternating periods of fasting and eating. The most common method is the 16/8 method, where you fast for 16 hours and eat within an 8-hour window. This eating pattern has been shown to have numerous health benefits, including improving insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control, which are critical for managing diabetes. You can learn more about the my IF schedules here.

Here are some tips on how to get started with intermittent fasting:

Talk to your doctor: Before starting any new diet or exercise program, it's important to talk to your doctor, especially if you have diabetes.

Start slow: If you're new to intermittent fasting, start with a shorter fasting period and gradually increase the duration as your body adapts.

Stay hydrated: It's essential to drink plenty of water during fasting periods to prevent dehydration.

Choose nutrient-dense foods: During eating windows, focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods like lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats.

Supplement with adaptogens: To support your body's stress response and improve insulin sensitivity, consider supplementing with adaptogens like maca, rhodiola, ashwagandha, and the Unicity teas.

While intermittent fasting can be an effective way to manage diabetes, it's not a magic cure. It's essential to combine this eating pattern with a healthy lifestyle, including regular exercise and stress management.
