Summer not only means warmer temperatures, it also means time to adjust your skin care routine to hot-weather mode. Here are a few tips to make sure your skin stays fresh, clean and healthy as temps rise.
Keep your skin clean and pure
When the weather heats up, not only do we apply heavier sunscreens to our faces, but we tend to sweat more, and both, in addition to wearing your regular makeup can clog your pores, which makes your skin susceptible to breakouts, dull skin and other skin issues. Keep your skin pure and fresh this summer by choosing the right cleanser that you can use morning and evening. If you have normal to dry skin, use a gel cleanser to remove impurities without drying out your skin; look for formulas that foam to refresh over-heated skin. If you have oily skin, look for a calming gel formula that foams to refresh skin. Cleansers that contain ingredients such as Tea Tree Oil help control oil, reduce inflammation and prevent breakouts. Check out JAFRA’s Advanced Dynamics lines and select the custom regimen that fits your skin type and needs.
Exfoliate intelligently
Boost your cleansing routine and exfoliate without stripping your skin by using a cleansing brush to remove dirt, oil and dead skin cells. Try JAFRA’s new Revitalizing Sonic Cleanser paired with the Royal Jelly Gentle Cleansing Milk. Follow cleansing with a gentle toner, and if you have dry skin, look for one that targets oily zones (such as the T-zone), while maintaining a radiant, hydrated glow on the rest of your face. If you have oily skin, look for a formula that also has Tea Tree Oil as a main ingredient to help restore your skin’s pH levels and to prevent breakouts and inflammation. Finally, once per week, use a gentle, manual exfoliating scrub to ensure that your skin stays fresh and healthy; exfoliated skin is also better able to absorb skin care products, making them more effective.
Hydrate and protect
Depending on your climate heat-type, dry or humid, and skin type, normal/dry or oily, you will need to find the right moisturizer. Your skin also needs to be protected from the sun, so during the day look for facial sunscreens with an SPF 35 or higher that can be worn daily and under makeup (try JAFRA’s Royal Jelly Solar Protection Fluid Broad Spectrum SPF 50); oily skin types should look for oil-free formulas. In the evening, if you have dry skin, look for a nutrient-rich moisturizer that can replace moisture lost during the day. Normal skin types will benefit from a gel-cream that is hydrating, but not greasy, and finally, if you have oily skin, look for an oil-free moisturizer that helps control shine while continuing to remove impurities.
